Swatches
Nicole by OPI - Diva Into the Pool
This is a beautiful turquoise polish with a pretty shimmer to it. Whilst I am not overly keen on the shape of the bottle that the Nicole polishes come in they have lovely brushes which makes application and fuss free. Swatch shows three coats and a top coat. I found that two coats was still a little bit patchy in places.
Sally Hansen - Lemon Zest
This kind of yellow wouldn't be my first choice for an all over colour, but for use in nail art it's a welcome addition to my collection. Sally Hansen make my favourite base coat and top coat, and their polishes match the quality of those, so I was suitably impressed with the overall application. The swatch shows two coats and a top coat. I thought I was going to need more due to the lighter colour of the polish, but it wasn't patchy or streaky.
Nails Inc. - Gatwick
Matte polishes and red polishes are not high on my polish list, but you can't go wrong with a Nails Inc. polish. I tend to find matte polishes can be tricky to apply, but Gatwick was quite a smooth application, it was however very patchy with just one coat. The swatch shows two coats and a matte top coat. I think this would have been better overall with three coats as you can still see the nail line quite prominently.
Essie - Sunday Funday
Essie polishes are fast becoming a favourite of mine. Each one I try makes me like them more and more, so I was very happy to find this one and another mini from the summer collection in my manicure box. Sunday Funday is a pretty coral polish which is perfect for sunny summer days, and the subtle shimmer really catches the light. Essie brushes are quite wide so you need very few strokes to cover the nail, making application quite quick. The swatch shows three coats and a top coat.
Essie - Full Steam Ahead
This is similar to Sunday Funday in application and finish, from the summery colour to the shimmer. Purples are a weakness of mine, so I think this one has to be my favourite. I have used both Essie minis since swatching, so they are likely to crop up in other posts on my blog in the future.
Overall
I think the selection of colours and brands is fantastic. Where else could you get this many different high end brands for just £15? The colours are all perfect for summer, either on their own or used in nail art. Make sure you get you July Manicure Box before the end of the month.
As I mentioned earlier I was asked to come up with a simple tutorial for some Summer Getaway nail art to match the theme this month, and what's the first thing that springs to mind when you think of a summer getaway... the beach!
My tutorial shows how to create a starfish, but if you were feeling a bit more adventurous you could add other beach critters like a crab, or maybe even try something like buckets and spades or footprints.
Will you be getting a Summer Getaway box this month? Also, don't forget that Coloristiq have a nail polish rental service which is just brilliant if you want to try out top end brands, but don't want to worry about the high cost. I've reviewed the rental service as well, so be sure to check that out if you'd like to find out more about it.
Thanks for stopping by
Aimée x
