Polish Party: Inspired by Another Member - Leopard Half and Half

Hello all,

I am very excited about the theme for this month's Polish Party - Inspired by Another Member!  We vote each month and since setting up our facebook group I have suggested this theme each time for the poll and it has narrowly been out voted by something else.  This month it finally came up on top though - Yay!

The only issue left after getting it through was picking who would be my inspiration.  There are so many fabulous ladies in the group who create such amazing nail art. so it was always going to be a tough choice.  In the end I decided on a half and half leopard print from Lauren at The Naily Mail.

Here's my version...

And here's Lauren's original design...

I had a shortlist of three designs including a galaxy manicure, a fish tail/plaited design with glitter, and this one. Lauren does gorgeous half and half manicures and I think it looks really effective which is what made me really want to try it out.  I love the gold she has used here, but I have done subtle coloured or realistic animal print nails before so I wanted to go really out there with a bright bold colour (If you followed the link above you will have seen Lauren's bright pink zebra nails, which were a source of more inspiration to do the animal print in a different colour).

Models Own: Tropical Sun and Ibiza Mix

Hello all,

I hope you have had a lovely Easter weekend and the Easter bunny visited.

I got a bit ahead of myself thinking that it was time for this month's Polish Party design, but that will be next week, so keep an eye out for that.  As I have more time to plan for that I went for a pretty spring colour.

This is Tropical Sun from the Beetlejuice collection topped with Ibiza Mix.  Tropical Sun is a fairly sheer coral/peach with tiny gold glitter specks.  It's so pretty and catches the light and sparkles away.  I have used two coats here because I was topping with glitter, but I think if you were wearing it on it's own three coats might be better.  I added Ibiza Mix over the top because you just can't go wrong with this glitter.  There are so many colours of glitter in Ibiza Mix it simply takes on the colours in your base and just seems to work, whatever you use it with! This is one of the most versatile glitter polishes I have ever come across.

What pretty spring colours have you been trying out recently?

Morgan Taylor: Who's That Girl?

Hello all,

I finally got round to trying out some of my Christmas present nail polishes that I hadn't had a chance to try yet and they are a perfect combo.

The main colour here is Morgan Taylor Who's That Girl?  I love how easily the Morgan Taylor polish goes on the nails.  The brush is quite wide meaning that you don't need to use many strokes to cover the whole nail.  I have used two coats for complete opacity.  It's such a pretty purple glitter with gold undertones.  To jazz this up a bit more I did a simple tape manicure on my thumb and ring finger.  I started by adding my tape in the centre of the nail, then adding the other stripes of tape on the outside.  That then gave me a guide for the other lines either side of the central one.  I used O.P.I Black Cherry Chutney over the top of this.  I can't wait to use this colour on it's own.  The photograph doesn't really do this colour justice.  I peeled away the tape before the polish had dried to give nice clean lines.

I really love the effect of tape manicures and I would like to try a more complicated design so I would love to see what you have done.  Have you tired any Morgan Taylor colours? I love the ones that I have and would like to get more - which are your favourites?
