Models Own: Polish For Tans* - Review and Nail Art

Hello all,

I am sure you've heard about the new Polish For Tans collection from Models Own and can't wait to get your hands on them.  I have three of the colours to show you today.

From left to right I have Shades, Bikini and Sun Hat.  These are gorgeous pastel neons that dry with a slight matte finish.

Shades is a beautiful orangey pink and I think this has to be my favourite.  The formula is lovely and the polish goes on very smoothly.  I used two thin coats which has given full coverage.  I think you probably could get away with one thicker coat if you wanted to.

Bikini is a very bright neon yellow.  I am not a particular fan of yellow polishes on their own, but if you want to make a statement, this would be a good way to go about it.  Out of the three that I have tried this is the least pastel of the shades.  I have used to thin coats to build up for full coverage.  I don't think one coat would work too well with Bikini as it's quite sheer.

Sun Hat is a beautiful creamy pink, a polish Barbie would be delighted with.  Again I have used two thin coats which has given full coverage.

Models Own have created the collection to perfectly compliment a tanned complexion making these brilliant for the summer months, and although I don't tan I still love these pastel neons.  I have left all of the colours without a top coat to show the final finish, but if you wanted a super shiny neon finish all you'd have to do is add a gloss top coat and you'd be good to go.  Also available in the collection are Flip Flop, a neon pastel green, and Beach Bag, a neon pastel orange.

All colours are available now in Bottleshops, and they will be available nationwide in Superdrug stores on 05 April and Boots stores on 1 April.  They are priced at £5 each.  Which is your favourite?

Now I couldn't resist doing a bit of nail art with these and thought that they would lend themselves brilliantly to a sunset style ombré.

I started with a base of Bikini.  Then using a make up sponge I created my gradient. I painted a stripe of Sun Hat on the sponge, then a stripe of Shades and then a stripe of Bikini.  I then dabbed this on my nail moving up and down slightly the blend the colours.

I was going to add some stamping to this design, but it seems that I haven't quite got the hang of it yet and I didn't want to spoil what I had already done.  I decided to top it off with a coat of Catherine Wheel from the Models Own Fireworks collection.  I think this has complimented my gradient perfectly with the tiny specks of gold glitter, red glitter dots, and gold glitter shards.  The sparkle really adds to the summer effect, like the sparkling of the sun on the sea at the beach.

  1. Great review! I think Shades is my favourite and it really suits you too! I love the ombre design you created - it's stunning and perfect for summer! Catherine Wheel works really well with the colours too! :)

    1. Thank you x

Shades is my favourite! Very wearable either with or without a tan (which is good because I don't tan!)

I love the combo with Catherine Wheel as well, I thought the colours in the glitter would work perfectly to add that extra summer sun feel!
